Due to our explosive growth, GILT GROUPE is seeking a bold, dynamic Art Director to join our Creative Services team.

Gilt Groupe is a new and exciting online fashion startup, revolutionizing the way fashionistas and consumers alike shop. Headquartered in NYC, the fashion capital of the world, Gilt Groupe is a members-only shopping website, providing an exclusive sneak-peek into the latest collections of high-end fashion at highly discounted prices. With a limited time window of 24-48 hours to shop for carefully chosen fashion items on sale, members gain exclusive access to view and shop for a regularly rotating collection of desirable products every week!

Gilt Groupe is built upon proven, successful track records and is a fully funded company. Members of the founding team bring experience from Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, eBay and DoubleClick.

The Art Director is a key position within the Creative services area, as they will be the primary back-up to the Creative Director. Assist Creative Director in creating a process for internal concepting, design, layout and still life/fashion photography development and execution. They will help establish an in-house creative team in the first year. Must be a strategic thinker as they will play a strong role in the GILT brand evolution. Must be able to analyze, interpret and transform customer information data into a strategy for a visual sales technique that fits the individual brand personality. Must have a thorough understanding of brand positioning and the psychology needed to appeal to each specific segment within the customer file, as well as what influences each group to purchase. Must be able to concept, design and direct photography for web and produce consistent and unique visuals that reinforce and enhance the Gilt merchandising strategy. The Art Director is responsible for meeting creative schedules in order to ensure that all deadlines are met and vigorously adheres to established guidelines and legal requests and requirements.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Skillfully generate dynamic creative presentations based on experience and knowledge of all customer segments for the multi-channel GILT brand
* Keen awareness of the important role that design and art/photo direction plays in driving sales as well as the development and growth of the GILT brand personality
* Work on all stages of creative from concept development through release. This includes layout design and presentation; attend still and/or fashion photo shoots, film editing and placing, film and page presentation and final page file approval
* Work on all stages of planning and directing still life and fashion photography. This includes talent selection, location selection and on-location shoot management.
* Work closely with the Creative Director to ensure the visuals support and enhance the GILT merchandising strategy to drive sales
* Develop copy to ensure the visuals support and enhance the strategy for a cohesive message that will drive sales
* Mentor support team to help train and evaluate their work to ensure cohesive branding on every channel of GILT customer contact
* Help oversee the production and completion of all creative projects on time and within budget constraints
* Participate with senior executive team to develop and evolve a long-term creative/copy strategy for the GILT brand
* Participate with merchandising/marketing and product team to continue and enhance process development for the creative presentation of the brand and vendor partners



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's Degree
* 4+ years' experience in catalog art direction and design
* Quark, In-design, Illustrator, Photoshop, Web design a plus
* Hands-on experience directing digital still and fashion photography
* Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills [written and oral] for effective interaction with all levels of company management, personnel and outside vendors
