| The Center for Research on Culture, Development and Education at New York University focuses on examining the intersection between culture and developmental processes as they influence school readiness and educational outcomes among children and youth from diverse ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our work focuses on three interrelated components of education - engagement, learning, and performance. Examples of current issues under investigation include: gender, immigration, and racial identity This position involves: -Assisting in interviewing Mexican, African American and Dominican mothers, as well as conducting child assessments -Data entry and coding using SPSS, Access, and Interact video-coding software. -The opportunity to work closely with staff mentors and to gain research experience in developmental research. -Potential for involvement in data analysis and preparation of papers, reports, and conference abstracts. -We are looking for a one year commitment with training starting this summer Qualifications: -Undergrad and graduate students in psychology, education, human development and similar fields -Interest in child development and the social sciences -Fluency in Spanish a PLUS.
